THE CAR

                THE CAR

I think I'll go to Blackpool, its really not that far
Driving doesn't take so long, especially in my car

My car isn't much to look at, but it gets me  everywhere
It can do things others never will, with lots of power to spare

I've got my pack of sandwiches,   and a nice big bottle of pop
Because once I start the engine, there won't be time to stop

I can't believe it's raining, I'll put the wipers on
Swish, Swash, thump, thump, till the rain has gone

The places I have been to, and got back home again
Never cease to amaze me, even though I'm only ten

My father taught me everything, amidst my childhood tears
How to turn a steering wheel, and how to change the gears

So off we go to the motorway, we'll be there very soon me and you
It will only take us about an hour, once we get on the M62

I can't believe all this traffic, pipping their horns as they go
Is there something wrong with my driving? I think the answer is No

There's a siren sounding behind me, from a car with a blue flashing light
Maybe they want to get past me, if that's the case then it's alright

My CB radio is on now, you can hear all ' good buddies' in flow
An eye in the sky' and a ' bear in the bushes' everyone needs to know

I need to pull in at the Services, park up and have something to eat
Have a good drink from my bottle of pop, make a minor change to my seat

Off we go again motorway style,  in the middle its much safer there
Another set of blue flashing lights, and the siren gives me a scare

All the lanes are full of traffic now, seems we're stuck in jam
We'll never get to Blackpool now,  disappointed and upset I am

This car of mine will get us back, to where we need to be
It's four flat tyres and no engine, is a place to play for me

At least we had a journey, and we had ourselves a ball
And after going everywhere, we never really moved at all
