Blind

Do you hear that vague sound
Spewing out of your chest?
I promise your heart
Is trying its hardest.
Yeah that breakup was difficult,
But I need you to feel me.
You are down in a pit
And I am your way out.
Simply saying
“Oh, it's not so bad,”
Won't save you.
Tell me why you are feeling
Real pain
Over a fake love?
You can't be saved by crying.
I need you to feel me.
You need to be in my shoes.
You need to experience loss.
You need to experience pain.
You need to tongue kiss death
Until you are certain
That you are dead
And then you need to wake up.
I need you to feel me!
Take my words
And pierce your heart with them
Until your soul is as dark as mine,
That way I can lift you up and say
“Now you can see.”

Author's Note
This is a difficult one to decypher.
It's about a girl who thinks the world is ending over a break up, but she doesn't really know what pain feels like. Yeah breakups hurt and all, but it could be worse. I could say that to her, but it would mean nothing until she experiences worse. That's what this poem is about. Capturing the essence of "it could be worse."
