Lavender

With a style of poetry as elegant as her namesake:
where words are buoyed up by a gentle breeze
so natural and fresh
where lines are petals that bloom
under a soft sunny disposition
that too can bring its bears and woes
to organically create and thrive.

These words are not just lifelike
but are of and from life
they ring true for that is what they are
unpretentious and unashamedly direct
they are a wonder to behold,
pause and satisfy the senses with them a while
for they have a deep wisdom in their roots.

They are the flowers that are eternal
with astounding variegation
that a skilled hand has turned to
planting poems with the quiet confidence of a gardener
that can and will weather whatever
to in turn sprout stronger and sharper
that can teach the new and old a thing or two.

What can be written in a thousand meandering words
is instead in her instinctive way;
encapsulated in a chosen few
as with vegetables free of weeds
tended with care and attention
that does not demand deference
but earns it through skill and wisdom.
