Lake Of Tears

He comforts his mom as her tears flood the room
She's just received some very heartbreaking news
Her eldest son bought a gun and committed suicide
Hearing of death right and left made him lose his mind

A broken spirit who just couldn't take it anymore
Paranoia took over when it reached his front door
His seventeen year old friend was killed by the owner of a local convenience store
Shot in his back and left like a rat to die for two days before it was made known

With that on his dome he decided it was time to go home
Because over time the pain of having slain peers took its toll
He lost all hope that things would ever really change
Seeking peace he grabbed his piece and put a bullet in his brain

It'll take a crane to uplift his mother up out of this lake of tears
For years she's feared that she'd prematurely lose one of her kids
That fear has manifested itself into reality so inconsolably she continually cries
For she's tried and tried to disguise what she has surmised about so called black lives

There's a bounty on them mentally and physically
Frequently it appears to be plotted out systemically
Deferring countless dreams from coming to fruition
The heat in the streets is as hot as a Sunday kitchen

Making it impossible to envision a situation of a peaceful utopia
Getting harder to breathe like when a cop is choking ya
Provoking you to either stand up, scream, write and stay in the fight
Or causing you to fold by making your body cold by the end of the night
