ALCOHOLIC INSECT ENCOUNTERS (dishwasher)

April 5th
#5
DISHWASHER

I don't know if that's
a wilted flower petal
or a disembodied cockroach wing
but I still have to clean the fucking thing

You can count on me cleaning the counters
despite wilted memories or insect encounters
In a way they are one and the same
with neither you nor I to blame

So indifferent our differences
Different yet the same
washed wishes in dishes
listening to glistening fame

And now I must say, as I recall
After I washed and wished away them all
and scrubbed off the filth from your soul
you promised to give me a fifth of alcohol
