Girl Don't Trip
Listen, what I'm about to say isn't all that nice
Not really the type of girl made of sugar and spice
But here I am again to shed some light
On why my heart hasn't been feeling alright
Fourteen, no love and no brains on me
Looking for that good guy who doesn't call me homie
But actually wants to hold me, console me and get to know me
Put me on a pedestal to let the world know what's good see
Sixteen, still the same girl looking for that nice guy
Wondering if I should change my style then ask myself why?
Why change myself for a one time punk
Only looking at the goods just to see that ass jump
Fast forward to the legal times when will I ever get it right
I don't know who I am or if this is my fight or flight
Moments passing like hours, minutes, seconds and days or nights
The one you're looking at now feels hollow and wants to be high
Empty one day and then full of the world's leftovers the next
Finally turned 21 and just had my first S.E.X.
Ain't there something that's supposed happen but hasn't went down yet?
No one prepared me for loss; even in death what do you get?
New year is rushing in like the fools on a drive by
Seeing blood on my block, in the streets has me down for a good cry
Twenty-two now still figuring out my gender
Is it a rose or the thorns giving dudes splinder?
This all started from needing to be a girl
Struggling to understand the positive in a ignorant man's world
Climbing and crawling just to reach the beautiful summit
Because that girl you met then is now a WOMAN...
