Untitled beat of a heart

We are like newborn children,
Our power is the power to grow
.”
Rabindranath Tagore

..

sky composes a
thunderstorm
in the atmosphere
overhead

water droplets freeze
on contact
with condensation
nuclei
in cumulonimbus clouds

strong updrafts
freeze
into hail
air trapped
within
forms into
fingerprint like
patterns
of rings
within
rings

too
heavy to
continue its
heavenward
climb
descends to
pelt my
house

roof drums
windows rattle
pellets
clack on the
pavement

i
leap
to my
feet
gaze out the
window
begin to
dance in
spontaneous
glee

focus
shifts
inward
to memories
of
tallahassee

hypothalamus
yields the floor to
hippocampus
neurons in various
brain sectors
fire to
recreate
the scene
like playing
music
from
sheets

..

a quiet
night
until the
stink of my
attempt at a
romantic dinner
drives us like an
exorcism
out of the
apartment
just as it begins to
storm and
hail

nothing to eat
except
peppermint
patties
which she
tears into chunks and
shoves into her mouth
chewing with
embellished
glee

hail
hammers
the tin
porch roof
rain
pours
through
holes in the
overhang
i make a feeble attempt to
plug
with my fingers
one gets stuck

she laughs
we’re soaked
i trace my finger
gently
down the bridge of her
nose
and honk it

her laughter
stills
her eyes
well
with desire
my mouth
descends
upon hers

air currents
collide
thunder
threatens
one free arm
around her
shivering
small and
lost
in each other

..

river of the life
stream
flowing
ceaselessly
from void
to conceptual
reality
beset
by the
calculus
of manipulation
emancipated
by the
disposition
of intention

concept flowing
into
defined
parameters
knuckled
fingers
clack
to record
upon the physics
abacus

neurons firing
answering
chemically
across a gap of
synapses

electrons passing through
infinite possible dimensions
schrodinger’s
simultaneously
alive and dead
cat
quietly
awaiting

heisenberg’s
uncertainty principle
wave spread
rings within
rings
increasing
in time

black holes
speed of light
curved space
time slows
mass increases
immense gravity fields
photons
both
frozen
in time and
devoured
in a millisecond
witnessed
separately
from the domain of
light
and the domain
beyond
the event horizon

the observer
at the central
foci
within
the nucleus of the universe
where linear
division
from
the observer
beyond the bounds of
cosmos
retains no
illusory
reality
and all that is
material
is
packets of energy
solid as neurons
electrical
firings
recreates
a distant
memory

all within the beat of a heart

..

When I die I shall soar with angels,
And when I die to the angels, what I shall become
You cannot imagine
.”
