smelling sweet

rainbows, halos
and parhelia
swallowtails and bumblebees
green lights in the car

omens and miracles
and the sparkling light
of candles flickering
quietly at night

knowing that somewhere
someone wants to be
conscious of all of this
wants to be with me

in my mind and in my heart
with me when I rhyme
with me when I meditate
stepping out of time

bedsheets and pillows
dreaming while awake
imagining, sensations
reality not fake

it takes two of us to generate
all our bodies' heat
and too the perspiration
strangely smelling sweet
