Against the Grain

Mist rising from a
dawn chorus sung,
gathering light shafts
breaking on accompanying
atmospheric charged
wilderness,
senses now heightened
in the whispering reed
against the grain,
pushing over harvest hills
after the storm,
Temperate be the affection
of heaven & earth in
breathless beautiful silence,
you return once more to me.
