Image for the poem i choose to forget

i choose to forget

i choose to believe every word that was said,
and every lie that was devised, will have it's reason if given time,
I choose to think of you the same now as i did then,
even though knowing what resulted in the end.
My heart bled for you then and it still bleeds for you now,
and I'm still alive somehow,
Shallow and quick are the breaths i take in,
conserving what's left of the man within,
deep are my thoughts but even deeper are my regrets,
like not remembering the sound of your voice when you talk, and the scent of your hair as i hold you close, these things my mind forgets,
so hold me close one last time, so i can refresh the memories within my mind,
so my heart can remember why again it is in so much pain.
