Distracted Driver
“Some beautiful paths can't be discovered without getting lost.” ― Erol Ozan
There are times when everyone gets lost or takes a wrong turn, like that time you seriously considered having an affair with the woman you knew from back in high school. That time when love passed you on a double yellow line, looked over at you smiling and winked before it disappeared around the curve leaving you filled with excitement and stricken with terror. Yes, it was you she desired, but there was no wreck ⎯no horrific crash, no tanker truck coming the other way. Disaster was avoided. Now, you are more secure in your marriage than ever, seatbelt fastened and doors locked. If there was ever any doubt, it has now turned to confidence because you didn’t let an old flame burn you twice. You look over at your wife in the passenger seat and smile, reaching out your hand. She puts her hand in yours, unaware of the catastrophe that almost befell when you nearly lost control. Now, you travel down life’s road half paying attention to the road, half watching the scenery go by, but enjoying every Saturday afternoon.
