One Foot Out the Door
Sometimes I feel like I'm plotting escape
Now knowing you would yank the rug from under my feet
I'm hiding my heart but not very well
Teetering haphazardly on a ledge
Knowing the slightest gust of wind from your lungs will push it over
And send it shattering again
No one can break me like you
You play the game better than anyone else I ever knew
You're a devil with a magic tongue and a poison kiss
You're a night full of tears and mental agony
Followed by a few weeks of promised bliss
I'm bound in chains
Rubbing sores around my wrists
You kiss my wounds and tell me it's okay
Like a gentle purr you whisper what I want to hear
The others were dangerous I know
But somehow I think
You're the most deadly of them all
Now knowing you would yank the rug from under my feet
I'm hiding my heart but not very well
Teetering haphazardly on a ledge
Knowing the slightest gust of wind from your lungs will push it over
And send it shattering again
No one can break me like you
You play the game better than anyone else I ever knew
You're a devil with a magic tongue and a poison kiss
You're a night full of tears and mental agony
Followed by a few weeks of promised bliss
I'm bound in chains
Rubbing sores around my wrists
You kiss my wounds and tell me it's okay
Like a gentle purr you whisper what I want to hear
The others were dangerous I know
But somehow I think
You're the most deadly of them all
