Epitaph
How do you grieve the loss of a loved one?
How can you possibly be expected to carry on?
How do you cope when a loved one is hurting?
How do you cope with the loss of your Mom?
You remember the good times you spent together;
You remember the times you laughed and cried.
You remember your loved one always, forever;
You forget the fact your loved one has died.
They wouldn’t want to see you sad;
They would want to see you laugh.
They wouldn’t want you to suffer in silence;
Remember their love, for it is the best you will ever have.
So goodbye Nan,
Goodbye Mom,
Goodbye Friend,
Goodbye my loved one.

A beautiful tribute. I am sorry for your loss. Be gentle with yourself and patient with your grief. I read the following when my mother passed and it gave me some peace...I hope it does the same for you.

Truly thank you for your kind comment, it is truly appreciated. There is just one thing I must tell you, as to avoid any falsehood on my part, or any kind of misunderstanding. This poem was written for my Mom after the death of my Nan (her mother).
I am lucky enough to still have a Mother, and I truly am sorry that you were not so lucky, but I could not reply to your message without being honest and telling you my truth.
I love my Nan so, so much and my mother even more, and this poem was written as a way to empty my thoughts at a distressing time for us all. Poetry is a way of healing yourself sometimes (Catharsis). My Nan was one of the many people in my 'village' who helped to raise me, and still I rise...
My belief is that one day we will meet again, so that is how I like to think of my Nan now, and I will never forget the food she made us. Nobody makes food quite like Nan did...
She passed away a few years ago and life does move on, but there is still a piece of me that will forever be missing...

Bless you lovely. The loss of a loved one is difficult in any case. My empathy for your loss is no less knowing it was your nan. My mother passed 12 years ago...I still write about her and I agree, it is cathartic.
