Image for the poem Temptation

Temptation

Terror rouses
bowels -
depths panging
with ripping grips;
inside incisors
of gnarled oaken fangs

Wailing Lady Freedom
lets slip
her weighty
lordly
finery
to jagged
dogged
jaws of brambles

Once evaded;
wolvish lures
uproot mouthfulls
of angel
wool

Fleece;
fails as armor
for your back

Slay the stray...

lest he calls
his pack
