Seventeen
Seventeen children went to school today
Never to return
Seventeen young lives snuffed out
When will we ever learn
Bad people make bad laws
So the bad people should go away
We are all tired of mourning the innocent
When it’s the bad people who should have to pay
Money in their pockets
Is more important than a child’s life
What kind of devils are these
That refuse to feel the strife
People who own guns
Universally agree
That guns and madmen
Should never meet in society
Nobody’s rights are trampled
Nobody’s rights are gone
Nobody’s rights are going to die
From not having a gun
So stand up and be seen
Yell out loud and strong
Let the devils know
It’s the people’s right to fix the wrong
Get out and vote your conscience
And make the devils go away
Let someone who has a heart
Make this a country where children can play
Never to return
Seventeen young lives snuffed out
When will we ever learn
Bad people make bad laws
So the bad people should go away
We are all tired of mourning the innocent
When it’s the bad people who should have to pay
Money in their pockets
Is more important than a child’s life
What kind of devils are these
That refuse to feel the strife
People who own guns
Universally agree
That guns and madmen
Should never meet in society
Nobody’s rights are trampled
Nobody’s rights are gone
Nobody’s rights are going to die
From not having a gun
So stand up and be seen
Yell out loud and strong
Let the devils know
It’s the people’s right to fix the wrong
Get out and vote your conscience
And make the devils go away
Let someone who has a heart
Make this a country where children can play
