A Day to Die For

So I sat in the quiet room
With its seemingly endless distractions
Her light was flashingly bright
And could not possibly be ignored
And his melancholy hummed away
As a background ghostly sound
The others chimed in reluctantly
But could not be ignored by me
My reaching mind wanting to be found
And she was first and foremost
And she was everything above it all
For sure for me and my blind sincerity
I could not help where it led that day
In that quiet room she filled so well
With her radiance unknowingly I think
But could be wrong for she knows so much
And what I'd give or take to feel her touch
And knew just then she already had
Reached out her thoughts and reassured me
And held my hand softly in our minds
And smiled with my smile softly again
In the quiet room filled by her
And the distant background sounds
Were a mere accompaniment to her solo
An orchestra with their diva at the fore
And I was in the audience front row
And that was a day to remember for sure
