America, To A Whole Idea

Folks got their freedom
With honors of saints
As competence emerged
Humanity arose

Victory marches
Over battlefields of hard labor

A union, must we say?
All 50 stars?

A nation united
Still divided
Blacks and Whites
Fair and just

Politically

Oh, we carried his ideas
After he died

Still ideas, goes astray

Dreamy ideals
Therefore a dream

Equal ... yet unequal
Tis the nation's truth

Histories remembered
Interpretations freed

Ideals then... that the ideas crippled

More, and more, to keep needs in control
Adjusted for improvements
Never improved enough

Which is best
Never can we decide
