I Phantasize You
It's your beauty that speaks
Beneath the surface
I indulge
Not to know of you
Only to imagine
A fictional us
Based on a long ago truth
Conjuring this antiquity of memorabilia
Of the man I once was
Coulda been
But somewhere along the line
Shit got fucked up...
Pardon..
Please bear with me
As stalk you
Incognito style
While you read your book
A turquoise sundress draping your curves
Legs crossed
Skin exuding a soft cinnamon glow
Posture flawless
Features feminine and profound
Comfortable in your own company
What a woman...
Just to see you is
A quiet delight
Everyday
In that same seat
On the 6:15 L train
Right on time...
Your beauty reminds me of a place
In my soul
Takes me back to those better days
Before I became so...complicated
See..
Each time I see you
Sitting there
Your hair pinned up
Your face boldly exposed
Unassuming and regal
I am redeemed..
Knowing that this purity still resides within me
Beneath the obscurity of
My tainted heart..
We never need speak
For our spoken word already exists
In my mind's eye
With you and I
Drinking in the calming visage
Of the cherry blossoms
As the soft breeze
Tease the senses
And you would stare at me
In a language I instinctively knew
Nurturing me with eternal patience
Divining my thoughts through a silence
So serene..
It can only be experienced
To be innerstood
Yes
I phantasize you
As I have been
Monday thru Friday
And I am renewed once again
As I review the best part of me
Risen from the depths
Of a pained..stained man
Levitated by the allure
Of your aura
Its residue I faithfully wear
As armor against my own karma
If only for these fourteen minutes..
These fourteen minutes
You and I share the same space
Until the conductor announces
"Broadway Junction"
And I bear witness to the exit
Of your heavenly grace..
And my face smiles a simple

The more time we spend dwelling on those things that bring out the better part of us, the deeper the not so nice gets buried and in time hopefully they never see the light of day again.
