Going Deep Underground
In a house where you'd never expect it
The doorbell just turned you around
Your daylight mainstream life is corrected
In a grotto that thrives underground
The butler seems to have no life
But you didn't come here to see him
And the host feeds on man's inner strife
Somehow when he laughs you feel grim
But you are not here for him or his wife
And here comes a sly, short little punk
Is he quite harmless or packing a knife?
Just don't try to get him out of his funk
However you got here it's not to see him
While as though you cannot do this alone
Towing parents along with your whim
As if for your love you must now atone
The parade of insanity continues
While you wait for the one who invited your stay
And while all the meet and greet ensues
You finally spot her coming your way!
Will your own kin see what you see?
A glory that clearly bested the day
Yet so dark and so deep she can be
She seems like a treasure that's hidden away
Here, under this newly blooming romance
Now daylight seems as dim as the darkness
Their butler's alive at your second glance
While her dad's endorsement stands in starkness
Against his salty humor of disapproval
Revolving around your circus of social life
Their grave honesty meets your approval
And somehow it's melting your inner strife
Dinner time is over much too soon
But now your whole family is happy
Your mother is just over the moon
...she won't stop staring at your daddy
From the weird house full of crazies
Comes treasure to cheer you and yours
So when you're all pushing up daisies
Love will keep you on living, it assures
The doorbell just turned you around
