Hold Me Tight

These days I have had a dream
about the monkey king Sun Wu-kong
in the Vairocana Buddha’s palm
Dreamt that I were him
soaking in the anointing balm

Wondering having a rest after a long journey
fantasizing the firmness, the safety
the heat of the palm might melt me
I might be frightened and gasp
but I wouldn’t escape from your grasp

I might have 72 transformations
but they’re not critical any more
Being willing to be caged by your fingered frame
the loss of the freedom isn’t a shame
Floating in the sea of your hand
I would feel as free as a sunken sand

Linger on the brink of the abyss
savor the taste of the life tests
never been a good test taker
cause I have never well-learned
how to skate on thin ice
and avoid heading into danger

Hold me tight as much as you can
just a second in your hand
Let me know
I should be fine with the mess-up
and you are my back-up
