IS THAT REALLY ME?
Is that really me
In the mirror I see,
Reflected candidly
In all my bare glory?
I thought I was healthy,
And in heart quite sexy ,
With my head hair curly
(Although recedingly)
But there's some oddity;
My arms look near skinny
(Though legs muscular be)
My stomach is paunchy,
My chest is not hairy
(Unlike genitally,
Forearms and legs darkly).
But then, I'm near sixty;
Got more rings in the tree
Than when in puberty.
However my GP *
Is pleased by my BP, *
I've got no PED *
Nor caught an STD ,*
No fillings dentally,
So thus I won't worry
Too much of my body.
*Abbreviations - GP = general (medical) practitioner; BP =blood pressure; PED=penile erectional dysfunction (impotence);STD=sexually transmitted disease

Note as of March 2019: I wrote this before I went through a series of unexpected minor health scares, symptoms that needed checking. However I came out with clean bill of health on the other side and am still happy in my skin and about approaching 60.

Solomon, I identify well with this piece. It seems you've taken good care of yourself. My favourite passage:

Thank you for the compliment - I don't smoke, drink little, and do keep my teeth clean and please my dentists, I still exercise through walking and gardening, I used to cycle anywhere and everywhere until I became a driver at the late (for medical reasons) age of 38, swim daily when my job was near a pool. However I now work at a place I have to commute to and from which has drastically cut down exercise opportunities, hence the paunch.
That passage was thought up thinking of the rings in a tree trunk. I wanted a change from 'miles on the clock'.
I've changed one of the lines and added another to add another two acronyms to my poem, close to the other two.
