2018

It's 2018:

our bees are slowly becoming extinct
plastic is choking our oceans and ocean life
humanity still refuses to remove the blinders
climate change is still a 'myth', while wild life contract new bacteria that causes them to bleed from their eyes
oh, i heard the eastern puma is now extinct
water is a precious resource, contaminated and capitalized
the color green has never made me more ill
illegal logging can be seen from space and indigenous peoples' voices are still silenced
opinions are a dime a dozen and i am choked with absolute ignorance; social media is a disease, peddled and force-fed
where excuses for genocide and mistreatment of the most basic of human rights are appalling.

i scream at ears deafened, i writhe before eyes blind. what can a simple earthen warrior who came from squalor truly accomplish? what power have they not stripped from me?

my voice and it will never be silenced. open your eyes, we're the cause of our own demise and i cannot scream loud enough for the voices unheard, i cannot stem the tide of greed on my own. rise with me to save what inherently has been apart of us all along; man cannot exist without nature, but she can exist without man.
