Smaller Version of Love

Love presents itself in the smallest
Ways. Like the sun on your face or
When a flower blooms after a bitter
Winter or standing among the tallest
Buildings. When you begin to ignore
And shut out all the hate. That glitter,
Hidden within your eyes. The cracks,
But you step over them like broken
And shattered glass on the sidewalk.
All of the words in disarrayed stacks.
A big heaping mess of those unspoken
Words. When the world that will talk
Some more stays quiet for just that one
Moment and you can hear those things
You have not heard before. The sound
Of your heartbeat and love that will run
Through your veins. The sound of wings,
Fluttering like butterflies. A flesh wound
That has been healed and repaired like
New. Hummingbirds you never noted
Before. Laughter and light that reflects
The sound of lightning before it strikes
During the storm. When you floated
In water, an eye on what happens next.
