pain's bloom
in darkness ache
fragile flowers of despair
bloom black
a grim backdrop
to the pink daisies
flowering inside my innocence
pain plucked them
& adorns her head
with flowers born of my brokenness
ruling my inner lands with great cruelty
she caused my natural beauty to fade
& lay claim to the gentle soul within
in her withered hands
i first learned shame
outshining her glory my only crime
she stripped me of my dignity
my nakedness pure torture
i a glorious flower of the sun
nature's own denizens
witnessed my agony
a true beauty once
they vowed to see me whole again
lovingly they transplanted me
to the garden of hope & renewal
where the blackened petals
of misery fell away
nourished safely within a happy glow
my daisies now blush pink
innocent blooms without any regret

A friend of mine is a major green thumb. And she once told me that a lot of times the dead leaves and petals of a plant act as good fertilizer for new growth in the plant. She will pull off the dead bits and lay them at the "feet" of the plant to help it grow. This is the feeling I get reading this poem, lovely Raven. Fertilize those roots. :-)
