Wonderful

You brought true joy as a child
Gave purpose and meaning
Tamed the young and the wild
On them you were leaning

As a youth, heroic
Trustworthy, protective
Loyal and stoic
Against the destructive

Despite itchy feet
A harsh cloister phobia
A wish to retreat
You embraced your dystopia

When your dad left this place
You stood up for his cause
Devils could not displace
Or buy out with applause

And though you felt troubled
You loved me so truly
When sorrows doubled
I was not burdened unduly

All around you prospered
Our children are many
Without what you offered
There wouldn’t be any

So imagine my grief
If you flew from this world
It would beggar belief
It would hollow this girl

Without you, my love
It really is true
Life wouldn't be wonderful
If I didn't have you
