My Reckless Hero
You aren't known for your desperation
Reckless hero and patriarch
Of your own fledgling nations
Your living fountain kills my parch
And flows along in deeper rivers to oceans
Forgot yourself to remember others
To rescue other heroes who self-forget
Like when rooftop firemen needed ladders
Or the poor girl who sat alone in her sick bed
For all that you’ve done for all around you
You better believe you're stuck in my head
I don’t know how to end this poem
With your so many heroic deeds left unsaid
But you remember many and I too, know some
Reckless hero and patriarch
Of your own fledgling nations
Your living fountain kills my parch
And flows along in deeper rivers to oceans
Forgot yourself to remember others
To rescue other heroes who self-forget
Like when rooftop firemen needed ladders
Or the poor girl who sat alone in her sick bed
For all that you’ve done for all around you
You better believe you're stuck in my head
I don’t know how to end this poem
With your so many heroic deeds left unsaid
But you remember many and I too, know some
