Hostage
A blanket of white stretches the horizon
leaving a brightness I never knew
sparkles, nearly blinding, hold my attention
I am a hostage to the view
Tiny specks, which to some, might
look like footprints
zig~zag amongst the crystal pure
lines divided, near oblivion fused
and humps that rise and fall, obscure
I imagine where the winds blew
in her own auspicious mind
swirling through the barren
and slashing through the pines
Ancient settlers englighten my perception
as a hint of chestnut fills the air
when sunlight wakes the morning
I wonder, will it all just disappear
leaving a brightness I never knew
sparkles, nearly blinding, hold my attention
I am a hostage to the view
Tiny specks, which to some, might
look like footprints
zig~zag amongst the crystal pure
lines divided, near oblivion fused
and humps that rise and fall, obscure
I imagine where the winds blew
in her own auspicious mind
swirling through the barren
and slashing through the pines
Ancient settlers englighten my perception
as a hint of chestnut fills the air
when sunlight wakes the morning
I wonder, will it all just disappear
