Dolores

A petite little entity
brought a crowd to their feet
a cranberry can be bitter,
she can also be sweet

That voice travelled through Kingswood
on your first North American Tour
and most of the crowd
had no idea who you were

But you fronted a good band
and turned the listener on
Jump a few years ahead,
everyone knew your songs

“Zombie” became a staple
 covered by a hundred bands
and every time you recorded
you always met the demands

I remember one time,
I had a very close encounter
You pushed a baby stroller
past me parked in Toronto

A large chunk of my collection
got snagged by my mother
and for her sixtieth birthday
I was going to take her last summer

But the show got cancelled
to hear the songs, perhaps dance
and I am so deeply saddened
that we won’t get our chance

It doesn’t even matter
what the reason will be
you were a mother to three
which is the true tragedy

Your voice will remain
And the years they will pass
I’m just fortunate that an angel
once crossed my path.
