Ever Far from the World

Ever far from the world,
I know I've been here before,
In the wind a breath of the past,
And in the river, a door.

Heroes were always looking for rain
And the sound
Below the ground
Where something yet can blink.

I was in the selfsame storm,
A demon wandered into my view,
A skull filled with wine to his lips,
“Come close child. I've a drink for you.”

Heroes were always looking for rain
And the sound
Below the ground,
Where something yet can blink.

“Feast of my vein,
And see it is good.
Feast of my vein,
And grow drunk of the poison
And you'll see it is good.”
I swore I had tasted such gore
In a world unknown before.

Heroes were always looking for rain
And the sound
Below the ground,
Where something yet can blink.

Down, down in the current's core,
In the river, a door.
I knew drowning could be so calm,
And no man guides the way...
