Moving On

You said you will always be there.
Hmph...that was all just a lie.
Because as soon as I needed you, you ran away to hide.
Leaving me to trudge through this chaotic world on my own.
Scared and alone.
Like a children, looking for his way back home.

But now you stand in front of me.
Asking to forgive you for your past mistakes.
Saying we can be like we use to, we can be great.
Trying to pull at my strings like you use to, but this time I won’t break.

See, until now I thought I needed you.
Thinking without you, my life would be a mess.
Feeling as though just being with you made me blessed.
Like I had one of the good ones, maybe even the best.

But I realized, I don’t need you,
I never did.
Because a real one would’ve ran and hid.
A real one would have stayed and helped me up off the ground.
You would’ve picked my head up, brushed me off, carried me around.

So I don’t understand, why are you here asking for me to forgive you.
When in reality I should be thanking you.
Thanking you for helping me prove myself wrong.
Proving that even without you, I can still move on.
