Druthers ? Like hard?or what's the  meaning of the word I'm curious

A word my Great Grandmother used frequently, meaning "if I had my choice, wish, or way".
Not used much in today's language, but fit nicely into the rhyme.

Reminds me of a poem my wife read me,The poem said something along the lines of... if I had my druthers, their would be no voice of others,
Only silence in my bed, and finally peace in my head.

but(t) then when realised couldn't  stop giggling.
