We are who we are whether we understand it or not. I have compassion out the ASS; however, not for those who attempt to change me from who I desire to be. I don't have time for those who judge, gossip, or busybody their way into the lives of others vs living their own lives.

Well, at the risk of coming across as a contrarian, compassion is not compassion unless offered unconditionally. Possibly the most difficult thing to do in this life. Spiritually, that is. Doesn't count if it's selective. Has to be available unto the most despised, under the most despicable conditions. Having "loving compassion" for family, friends, & like-minded, nice people is so easy, yet we fail even at that most times. We have to cultivate an "intent" of compassion as perfection (despite our interpretation of it being 'impossible' ). As a word, compassion is among the most disabused. It takes a lot of of wrestlin' wit our our very underestimated, cunning Selfishness. A lifetime pursuit needing contemplative attention on a daily basis.

No; I completely agree with your definition of compassion; however, there comes a point when you must not only turn the other cheek, but walk away from those negative influences in your Life. At the risk of sounding religious ( which I'm not ), even Jesus shook the dust off his feet when moving forward from those who would persecute and condemn.
I have all the compassion in the world toward those who demonstrate behaviour from fear, i.e. - jealousy, bitterness, spite, etc. toward me. However, it's not up to me to change them. . .only to demonstrate the presence of Love. And while I can say I've failed miserably at times, I can also say that if the season isn't right, all Love can do is plant the seed and move on. After all, who does, tends, and reaps an entire garden in the same season?
Accepting and letting go is compassionate; the highest form of it, allowing people to be themselves, as well as evolve at their own pace.

You (We) can be pissed/angry/walk away, etc, but no less must acknowledge "negative thinking", NEGATIVE whateverism is a human affliction most of us deny, but those who we dismiss as Negative are really "no less" than we, & equally deserving of unconditional compassion, & even pre-forgiveness for what we think their crimes are. That DOES NOT mean we have to make love to them, or invite them home with us, (tho it would likely be a "further step" to do so).......mostimes the best we can & should do is cultivate a mind of unconditional compassion, pre-arranged forgiveness, The "sins" we are so repulsed by are the product of multi-1000s yrs of ego fucking up the collective consciousness (Karma).......to separate our illusory individual Selfs from the past, is pretty much like participating in the very shit we despise. It is an imperative that we accept being a part (not apart) of that which repulses us, in order to have the cultivate a desire to break thru the walls of ego that imprison us & often turn Our Best Intentions into the very negativity that we profess to detest. We have to at least make a meditative or contemplative effort to break down our Polarized Perception of "this realm", or we be only foolin OurSelfs that we're not actively participating in the futility of Samsara, within Maya, & contributing to the vicious cycle that's been 'degrading' human karma on Earth since the beginning of whatever........Jesus! shut me thfck up already. Sorry for the ranting rave, if that's what it was. (oh, it sure was danny'bo)....Aye LOVE you!
