chloroform

smother my pink daisies
with chloroform
make them sleep

so they no longer weep for the sun
who fails to rise
on delicate petals

winter has raped them of their beauty
let them be at peace within wilted glory

pressed to my pages
where all secrets are kept
pink daisies
represent deep regret

pain for the woman i once was
who ran wild with the night
& charmed the stars
down from the heavens

now trapped inside my lacquer finish
highly polished
& poised
a lady stuck in the day to day

collared
& leashed to the mundane
my Master boredom
he's a cunt buster
i am his slave

calling today to the dying afternoon
witness this lady
hair wreathed in nature's finest
whose skin once looked like fresh cream
& lips tasted of sun kissed berries

now cigarette smoke halos her head
her skin weathered
lips pale from copd

wait a moment
before you dismiss her
& look deep within sparkling eyes
there her soul whispers

"i'm still in here"

no longer beautiful
but very much alive
