the garden of melancholy
my orchids bloom black
reflective of my emotions
their spikes pierce
& drink from a soul so cold
lingering in the shadows
of a bloodied moon
that casts its grotesque light
on my garden of pain
i fertilize this place of shame
with the decaying bodies
of my broken dreams
it reeks with failure
& yet it's beautiful in its gothic pallor
it symbolizes death
my blackened flowers
guard the tomb of my sanity
with a tenuous grasp
on the mask that covers me
a macabre spectacle
here i lie, alive to the ache
dead to hopes
doomed to never materialize
i nourish the dark
it gives me something to believe in
there are no promises
of brighter tomorrows
it guarantees only more sorrow
it covets my madness
feeds the psychosis blooms
the self hate they feed from
within these gates
bloom my demented orchids
well kept & guarded
where it rains tears
of the deeply troubled

rt87 once said to me that shame is a wasted emotion
& i've held onto that ever since because Sir is so filled with wisdom..
... there's so many other feelings we could have iro our choices. what's the point of being ashamed?
this one touched me deeply, beautiful

Beautiful Raven, this poem sweeps elegantly through the mind with flavours of gothic beauty and deep pain. The ache in the words is felt but no less beautiful. Your garden is gorgeous in its darkness. We feel what we feel and there is no shame in that...or in this beautiful poem.

'my blackened flowers
guard the tomb of my sanity
with a tenuous grasp
on the mask that covers me '
powerful profound and tangible..
there's an underlying sense of fortitude
through constant self examination
that emanates from your rites Raven..
i'm diggin the deep dark richness of your soul
guard the tomb of my sanity
with a tenuous grasp
on the mask that covers me '
powerful profound and tangible..
there's an underlying sense of fortitude
through constant self examination
that emanates from your rites Raven..
i'm diggin the deep dark richness of your soul
