Hurricane Katrina

You've entered my world with the force of a powerful hurricane
From the moment of our first embrace I haven't been the same
A spark jumpstarted my heart and focused my eyes onto you
That's a fact that I know that you never knew but now you do

Like the folks who are from the state that's shaped like a boot
After the storms that I've endured it's time for me to rebuild too
And I choose you to be the foundational base of my new home
You're a strong black woman who is statically affixed in my dome

I'm in a spiritually bliss zone whenever I'm in your royal presence of elegance
I've never specifically asked if you feel the same but I'm already convinced
My instincts have caused me to think that your desires are the same as mines
Nothing has caused me to think otherwise as I continually assess your vibes

The look in your pretty eyes speak volumes about what you feel for me
Displaying sun rays of compassion and love or at least that's what I see
But my perception is biased because in your heart is where I'd like to be
You did express to me once that part of it will eternally belong to me

If this all is some sort of fantasy that I'm dreaming then please don't wake me
Never forsake me for I'm in love with thee and this bond is a thing of beauty
I try to convey with written expression what you do to me but I don't believe
That I truly paint a masterpiece for you to visually see our blockbuster movie

Earnestly I yearn for you to continually downpour floods of your precious love
As the embankments of my heart and levies of my brain are now unplugged
Opening floodgates of emotions & daydreams of you broadcasting like the news
Capturing my undivided attention like a parishioner catching the Holy Ghost in a pew

If there ever comes a day where our passion fades I'll do all that's humanly possible
To prevent you from editing the page where our love is displayed because it's logical
I can't allow it to be mission impossible to halt that train long before it hits the tracks
Know that as part conductor I will pump the brakes so we never ever even reach that
