The Robin

“Males and Females look identical, young Birds have no red Breast and are spotted with golden Brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away Intruders”.

I know a Robin red Breast.

A regular visitor to my Kitchen
much to my Cats delight
It feeds from my Plate
It comes in from the cold
It's presence a welcoming sight.

They say a Robin is a symbol
A symbol of a loved one close by
Keeping us safe and guarded
Just popping in to say hi

He's my dead mother saying I'm here
The departed Neighbour saying hello dear
That Traffic accident up the Road filled with fear
No time to say goodbye…..

Loved ones no longer here.

Spare a thought for your singing red  Robin
he may just seem a begging pest
But he could be your best Friend passing
That little Robin red Breast.
