Colors the final chapter: A New Dawn

A New Dawn

The home I’ve spent the majority of my time on this island building from the peaceful yellow sands of the beach has been destroyed.
Feelings of a dark abyss rip through my soul, the island should have been wiped out by an asteroid,
at least I would no longer be around to experience this misery.
Lucifer, his dominions and all of his trickery
is about to come crashing down on me in an unforgiving, vengeful force.
A vez que poderoso caiu logo de seu cavalo alto.
The once mighty has fallen right off his high horse.
Esses desejos escuros, impulsos imobiliarios, eu me recuso a endossar.
These dark desires, immoral urges, I refuse to endorse.
Estar meu chão cara a cara é o meu único curso.
Standing my ground face to face is my only course.

My black hair moves wildly in the wind.
My white dress shirt is ripped and stained from a long, damaging night.
Armageddon is here, the final battle, a victor will finally be named.
This is my destiny, my fame to claim.
A gunshot to the head has taken many others just like me.
Others have been overcome with stress and anxiety and swallowed whole by the sea.
A slit wrist here,
a splattered body there,
so many others like me have failed to secure their own victory,
a victory that once seemed impossible to me,
but I’m a changing man, one who refuses to lose.
I will come face to face with a radical lunatic and win with the backing of my muse.
It’s here, the final battle,
the final show down where all bets will be settled.
The fiend appears first, whispering in my ear behind me,
“give yourself to my master, drop to your knees.
Bow and show him the respect he deserves and you will be rewarded with every earthly pleasure you can imagine.
I’ve scratched your back long enough, it’s time to return the scratching.”

I turn and face my long time “friend” and stare into his maniacal red glowing eyes,
tell him he has failed and soon I will prove it to him by being baptized.
He hisses at me then grabs my shoulders.
I push him off and tell him my soul now has a new stock holder.

I turn around and come face to face with the man of the hour.
He smiles at me confidently believing he controls all of the power.
He’s dressed in a black suite, still has his sinister goatee and carries a black walking cane.
Greets me with a warning to do as he says or disaster awaits me in the form of a massive flood brought on by heavy rain.

He stretches out is hand and offers to shake mine.
I refuse to acknowledge by not even raising a single finger showing him my spine.
He laughs and says I’m about to be broken,
the second threat he has already spoken.

“Straight to the point, I’m here for your soul.
So, what do you say?  How about we go for a little stroll?
I can taste the fear in your eyes, your losing control.
Allow me to ease your main concern, joining me doesn’t mean for eternity you have to burn in coal.
I will treat you well and allow you to live lavishly.
I’ll provide you with all the woman, booze and satisfaction that your heart desires, an outcome for you that’s not such a travesty.
How would you like to join me?
It’s as easy as you make it to be.
A gun?
A knife?
A tall building to jump off of?
You name it!”

The fiend again approaches me handing me both a gun and a knife.
Lucifer really wants my soul and is demanding I die.
Dark storm clouds form over head as decision time has come.
A heart breaking, soul destroying time for some.
Doesn’t have to be for everyone.
It won’t be for me.

I take the gun from the fiend…
caste it out into the ocean.
I take the knife from the fiend…
caste it out into the ocean.

The smile on Lucifer’s face is removed and replaced with a frown.
He thought he had me beat and that I would just willingly go and join him in his town.
Wrong, wrong, wrong it’s time for him to be put in his place.
Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I take a few steps forward and get right up in his face.
A fat orange and white cat rubs his body against my legs,
looks up at me content, happy he doesn’t have to beg.
Lucifer kicks at him to get him out of the way.
I pick the cat up, hold him and tell Lucifer I’m escaping his world of negativity, lies and gray.

A bright light behind me blinds Lucifer as two men approach us.
Lucifer looks at me angrily, I think he’s about to throw a fuss.
One man has brown skin, a black beard and wears a white robe.
My savior.
The other man wears a Michigan hat, a Michigan jacket and is on the right-hand side of the first man.
My muse.
They both come to me and stand on both my right and left hand side.
Lucifer, not one to take defeat in stride,
puts his head down and begins to angrily retreat with the fiend close behind him.
My once cloudy future no longer seems so grim.

The man in the white robe asks me to follow him into the ocean.
I’m about to receive a promotion.
Out in the ocean, he says a few words,
then dunks my head underwater quickly.
Once back up I swear I can hear the cheering of the birds.
My soul feels refreshed, not so sickly.
I hug the man and thank him for saving me.
He tells me he was always there for me, even during the times I didn’t want him to be.
He tells me all will be well.
Everything will get better for me.
I can already feel it in my soul.
Eu renasci.
I’ve been reborn!
