Midnight Fireworks

New Year's Eve fireworks are just an excuse
An artificially created distracting ruse

So no one will notice me hiding out in plain sight
With two lonely lips and no one to kiss at midnight

Torturing myself with the pretense of enjoying explosions
To drowned out the sound of my heart's exploding emotions

Out in the cold Winter air where my frost covered eyes
Glazed over frozen behind crystal tears and white lies

Won't seem so out of place on my pitiful crystalized face
As I dream of a lover dressed in vaporous white layers of lace

Resolving to love me forever for the rest of my days
While my nights echo the silence of unwritten plays

At the stroke of midnight the ball drops to thunderous applause
As the curtains exposing my perpetual show come to a anticlimactic close
