Sing

Will you sing to me before you go?
It is a song perhaps you do not know.
My mother sang it one winter night,
Such as this...such as this...
Of a love as old as time
But not, I'm sure, a nursery rhyme,
If you find the words, I'll let you know.

It is the fondest memory I do not have,
Save as though I had been drowning,
No poison, just her heartache,
And she became the daybreak.

Will you sing to me before you go
Of a maiden who waited all alone.
She sang she became one with the sky
Where all is gold and all is blue
In Heaven where I'll wait for you.
No lyrics found from yesterday,
And the voice has flown so far away
If you find the words I'll pave the way.

It is the fondest memory I do not have,
Save as though I had been drowning.
