Namaste

I too was weary and faithless
Contemplating a suicide ending
It had to be done so clinical
For one almost born cynical
To survive was going to need
A slap in the face of convention
But who would dare to do that?
A man in an orange Mohawk hat?
A guy convention labelled as a twat
A man without two legs to rub together?
There would have to be light and love
From another source, one not jaded

Then there was a glimmer
A ray of sunshine in the dark
A kindred spirit who had also
Been abused and damaged by life
I remember questioning myself
What was the point?
It always gets taken away
It always ends in pain and grief
Was I even able to step up to the plate?
And would my help be given consideration
I reached out to you when
You were reaching out to me
Like two lost souls
Last ditch attempt

How many songs have the line
‘We started out as friends’
And we did there was some
Hand holding and tear wiping
There was support and encouragement
There was caring there was motivation
All things I had written of receiving
And despite being godless I gave
And therefore I received the same back
A welcome shock had I found an Angel
When all hope was lost
It certainly seemed that way

Two lonely people trying to be lighthouses
To each other and other people
If you have a lighthouse, the shipping
Forecast is completely irrelevant
Because of her light
I was willing to sail through any waters
There were dark clouds and sometimes storms
But we lashed our boats together
And rowed in unison for the shore

Like all good actors / players
Our roles have switched a number of times
She was like the daughter I never had
Who was so needing love and support
Then I became her Crazy Uncle Buck
Every time was time for a joke n laugh
I was a brother helping out a little sister
Who was having her pig tails pulled
Mostly I was her friend ready to assist
And she was a best friend doing the same
Conveniently, all good things given were mutual

This has been quite an unexpected journey
Quite extraordinary through the gamut of emotions
But one thing has held steady throughout
Your attributes:
Gentleness, kindness, support, caring, loving
Powerful, all woman, seeking equality in al things,
A wonderful and talented poet, a beautiful soul
Wisdom beyond your years and if I may swim
In shallow wares a beautiful smile, a gorgeous
Voice, lovely to look at, a wonderful yet wicked
Sense of humour, looking at everything, you are
A perfect 10 and I was helpless to attempt not
To fall in love with you – the real shock was learning
That you felt the exactly the same way

No need to call Dignitas or 911
No need for a cardiac surgeon
I have been saved
My heart melts

I am in love
I am freed
I bow my heart to you
