Fade To Black
come inside me
take this soul journey
kaleidoscope misery
casts a myriad of shadows
you're sure to enjoy it
taste the darkness
it's on tap
you'll get drunk
& fall face down
into my pit of pain
masochistic by nature
i chain myself to the wall
where you're invited
to piss on my burning sin
there's a pyre of flesh
scorched
by words of hate
for you to behold
after the turmoil ride
where all
my skeletons hide
you're welcome to relax
on the sea of sorrow
it's beautiful this time of year
sail my tears
around cape depression
& see the sparrows of despair
nicotine valley
has some of the most
hypnotic poppies
but beware
rigs of the past
litter the ground
you don't want to get poked
& don't feed the zombie junkie
i once was
it sleeps most days
but awakens
around the holidays
its veins scream
for just one more fix
then after you've seen the sights
your presence
is cordially summoned
to the ball of afterlife
where everything fades to black
my story never ending
an old soul
who's been here before
will die to live again

This time of year is hard for me as well. Memories take their toll and are relived through the pain of today. You've painted another vivid picture in this.

The holidays are not the time of cheer media would have you believe for a very large number of people. It's a time when many of us struggle, despite what we have or don't have. I'm glad you turned your glow to expose this truth so beautifully. For me, it's a time to reach out to others. WOW! This is an introspective existential masterpiece Brenda. It reminds me that we are the Labyrinth...the self is made of many varied minotaurs, but deep within us we have our Theseus and Ariadne.

My love, this touches the deepest parts of me...you are never alone in the dark my love because within these words you let me know I am not alone....and one day you and I will be in the same space for many holidays to be celebrated...you can count on it...the Fates haven't reunited us to just be only as close as video chat :) :)
