Sibling Memory

You wanted the theater of the absurd
I gave you my word
There was so much between us, brother
Even what we had in common

I could go on
In fact, I will
Thy will be done
For where we go is long gone from where we come
A distant travel, a distinct call

Dreams are important to me
They're where I find myself
You are there too
In a shoe in
In a shoo box
Thinking outside
Your heart attacks
A life of hard knocks
Putting the cart before the horse
While reinventing the wheel
Actions speak what thoughts steal

You are there in spirit, brother
Not to be fucked with
Just to be fucked over
Everything was as real as it gets
Life was what we wanted
Just as one expects
Everything
Coming like an orgasm
Before us
As the present chases
After us

It's not a pretty picture
But an offhand abstract, nonetheless
We parted our painted ways
Singing while stung
Praise
While hoping that God prays
For whatever is believed
Knowledge is something
Not to be deceived
Although you are long gone
You are still bereaved
Brother
