Black Honey

The thought pondered in your mouth
like a sticky, chewy-caramel toffee,
i could see the concentration on your face,
like you've fallen short of courage to be able to say

That i left you delicate when i left
but now I'm here to stay
like white chocolates creamy aftertaste
we'll float on a island
in jungle of spun sugar
hoping we'll never been able to find our way out

Your ninety nine Fahrenheit
when i question whilst i taste,
with our top lips foaming with vanilla milkshake
this is the only time when our love doesnt taste of lemon and lime
the sharp end, or the bittersweet beginning
the sour gobstoppers or the cola bottles fizzing,

Black honey,
makes you dance like sugar in the rain
black honey,
makes you forget all of the pain
that i have caused you

You like to finger the foam on your frappuccino
scoop it up and lick it with the tip of your tongue
when you do this, the battle has been lost
even though the war has been won,

Black honey has gone to your heart
and I can understand sweetness of something so dark
black honey has gone to your head
drunk on revenge, will i be ever able to mend
the colour of the honey of our love,
its turned black because i left you in the lurch

I succumbed to the path of all thrills,
traded pure love for a bottle of pain pills
but now I've got my head on straight,
and I'm willing to give this ago again

I don't expect you
to come back on cue
I just hope
you'll see the love I have for you
