Mommy Dearest

You promised to be there,
To love me to the end
To support me no matter what,
Because that's what you do for family.
Now all I get is silence,
When I've made a choice you disagree with.
You claim someone else is keeping me from you,
But if anything its your silence that is pushing me away.
I can only reach out so many times,
Before the rejection hurts me enough to stop trying.
So, if one day I finally give up,
Don't blame anyone else,
Because it's your utter refusal to respond,
