A Taste For The Street

Over-boiled veggies and unseasoned meats,
her mouth craves the enchantment of big city streets.

She rejects the white diet of conservative taste,
a barbequed hot dog, will not be her fate.

The hungry apprentice, works to train her bland tongue,
on culinary magic, where her juices will run.

A delicious adventure, she finds Middle East,
she samples the Falafel,  a scrumptious feast.

The oils of Tahini, drip down her glazed chin,
she devours completely, all the goodness within.

A few hours later, her appetite back,
she is summoned by dub music to the old Roti Shack.

It starts as a dry rub, seasoned up with a jerk,
her wet marinade prompts a hot pepper squirt.

She engulfs his creation, in her snug little pocket
as it simmers and it stirs, her esurient socket.

He tables the curry, her palate is ready,
she devours each mouthful, the flavour is heady.

No longer famished, she drifts into sleep,
these streets will provide her with plentiful treats.
