Today
I’m going to have a good day
no one will see me down
we’ll pass bottles all around
making some new friends
drowning my troubles away
it’s that time to act the fool
won’t care if people see me
not even if they know me
tomorrow might bring rain
but that won’t stop the fun today
I want the prettiest girl in town
I’ll look her up and down
get her on the dance floor
while the haters keep hating
could carless what they are saying
rather yell out “round’s on me!”
not looking for any fights
seen my fair share of brawls
but today I’ll be the light
sharing stories from my youth
it’s that time to howl at the moon
disturbing the peaceful neighborhood
me and my buddies singing
we’ll keep the party going
all night long, or until the cops come
today is going to be my day for joy
I need it just as much as anyone
working hard has its place
so does the time for having fun
time to live it up like I’m still young

If you're gonna work hard, make sure you put equal measure into pleasure. This reminded me of walking drunk through a neighborhood at 2am with my sister singing The Philosopher's Drinking Song loudly. Fun times. Enjoyed the release valve vibe of this one :-)

I wrote this when a friend told me that they wanted to have a good day. This person has been going through a hard time and he said just for the day he just wanted to have fun. Kind of inspired me.
