HER GUISE IN THE ARBOUR...

We paid our debts
Liquid sunsets through
Euphoric, crystalline
Ocean gravity

Wealth of touch
Immolates the day
Above our dreamscape
Our pergola we splayed

And the xanthous sparks
In between each blink
It was vacillation
That was ophthalmic

Yes, I do
I see your shadow
When I think of you
It is always faced away
Like an event horizon
All the world is removed

And I saw it well
As those same sparks began to fade
Under the rising tide

And you knew me well
An ultimatum reversed
Your heart was the curse
Upon my hearse

Winter of my reverie
Nothing left to take from me
So your image is left gaunt
And as Autumn, leaves

Never again to chase the sun
For I have already won

The flame dances upon the walls
And ignites the pane
Odd how a night yet glistens
After the rain

You say I speak in tongues
But I've only had one

Her guise in the arbour
Of a forgotten hope
