Drying quilts of rocky skin
atop beds of clay, red
retention of gritty inlay
Trickling molecules
forming covalent bonds
with hydrogen atoms;
Survivors, H2O refugees
fresh water immigrants
fleeing t'ward a saline
channel, salt-water seas;
the substance of tears

This is gorgeous imagery. Stanza 1 flows like a liquid dream with your rhymes and assonance. It evokes great sadness, while hinting at the affects of Climate Change.

I like this alot, how the last word lingers and awakens a deeper meaning that ties in with the title, it's really thought provoking, full of contrasts....
