the dance of an old man

he sat
motionless
under
the old oak

frail body
wrinkled skin
saggy, tired eyes

till he heard
the music

and
began
to sway

in joy
in company
of spirits
immersed
in music
of the soul
for the soul

and he moved
swimming through the air

a million moments
'tween the steps
leaving earth
and landing back

head
swinging
in unison
with the boughs
eyes
closed
in trance

skinny limbs
care not
the strain
for the frail body
is now a bird

he is
in his element

home
calling

an old man dancing?
no
a child
coming home
