Swing Air Tìr - - - Highland Swing - -  inspired by Lady-of-the-quil

Swing Air Tìr - - air a bhrosnachadh le Lady-of-the-Quill

Troimh ceò agus an t-uisge
Ann an talamh beinne
Sheas Albannach aonar
Bha a dhìoghras agus a nàimhdean a-nis fo smachd
Air cnuic fraoich
B 'urrainn dhan h-uile càil a chluinntinn
Air a 'phìob aige chluich e cumha trom
Fonn glòir agus mì-thoilichte
Na fhèileadh agus an sporan aige
A 'caitheamh rud sam bith eile
Bha e air a sgeadachadh gu mòr
Bha a h-uile dad a 'bruthadh gu brèagha
Cuir an cèill, cumadh gorm
Gruaige glic is sgiobalta,
coimhead gu math air a ghleidheadh
Chan fheum tuilleadh a bhith a 'cuairteachadh
Rinn e an t-slighe dhachaigh
Airson a shuipeir mu dheireadh thagh e brochan
Agus buille dùbailte airson misneachd nan Dùthchannan
Sheall e dhaibh, bha e fhathast eòlach air mar a shnàmhaicheadh e
A 'dèanamh dealbh de dhuilleag àrd-inbheach
Tha a chorp a 'strì ri giùlan fòirneartach
An gnìomh mu dheireadh aige, gus a 'chathair a bhriseadh air falbh

Translation: English

Highland Swing - - inspired by Lady-of-the-quil

Through the mist and the rain
In mountainous terrain
A lone Scotsman stood
His ire and rage now subdued
On a heather clad hill
All could hear the shrill
On his pipes he played a sad lament
A tune of glory and discontent
In his kilt and sporran
Wearing nothing foreign
He was dressed to impress
Everything neatly pressed
Aftershave, manly perfumed
Hair neat and tidy, looking well groomed
No more need to roam
He made his way home
For his last supper he chose porridge
And a double malt for Dutch courage
He’d show them, he still knew how to swing
Performing an ultimate highland fling
His body contorting with violent affray
His final act, to kick the chair away
